Addressing the members before the session, which is scheduled to continue until August 13, Modi emphasized the importance of informed debates supported by strong arguments and facts. He likened the functioning of Parliament to the monsoon season, suggesting that both should be proactive and beneficial for the country’s welfare.
Modi highlighted India’s advancements on the international stage and in space exploration, acknowledging the achievements of private space startup Skyroot Aerospace. He noted the youthful energy within the company, emphasizing that the average age of its team is just 28 years. In a pointed comment directed at Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition, Modi made a reference to “young people,” contrasting them with a “56-year-old youth.”
The Prime Minister’s remarks underscored the significant role that the younger generation plays in driving India’s success in technology and space sectors, reflecting their aspirations and capabilities. He called for constructive debates in Parliament, asserting that robust arguments should prevail over turmoil.
The current session is poised to address a range of significant legislative proposals, including amendments pertaining to foreign funding regulations, taxation, higher education, and judicial reforms. Additionally, there are measures aimed at enhancing the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises. A key legislative proposal involves increasing the number of Supreme Court judges from 33 to 37, excluding the Chief Justice, to alleviate the backlog of cases.
With the government set to advance a series of reforms, the session is anticipated to witness vigorous political discussions. The opposition is expected to bring several national issues to the forefront, ensuring a dynamic and intense parliamentary session.
