Arya Singh, a NEET-UG 2026 candidate from Kanpur, alongside her father, Rakesh Singh, a former soldier, has embarked on a protest outside the National Testing Agency (NTA) office in Delhi. This demonstration comes in response to the NTA’s rejection of claims that her examination results were tampered with. The controversy arose when the NTA dismissed allegations from several candidates who insisted that their scores did not align with their OMR answer sheets. The agency asserted that images shared on social media, claiming discrepancies, were manipulated, digitally altered, or artificially generated, and did not reflect its official records.
Arya Singh has alleged a discrepancy in her NEET-UG re-examination results. Initially, she claimed her score was displayed as 570 marks, which was later altered to 167. She pointed out that the OMR sheet provided by the NTA contained anomalies, such as a missing question number and duplicate serial numbers. After raising these issues, Arya reported receiving a different OMR sheet from the agency, this time showing a score of 609 marks.
Her father, Rakesh Singh, expressed dissatisfaction with the NTA’s explanation and vowed to continue their protest until they received satisfactory responses. He has further appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene, calling for action against what he perceives as irregularities in the examination process.
The NTA has stood firm against these allegations, asserting that all original OMR sheets align with the declared scores. The agency emphasized that official examination documents are equipped with secure identifiers, including barcodes and QR codes, to ensure their integrity.
This dispute is rooted in the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination conducted on June 21, which was organized after the original test in May was canceled due to allegations of a paper leak. Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation continues its investigation into the case, keeping the situation under scrutiny.
