Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently underscored the burgeoning defence manufacturing capabilities of Uttar Pradesh, notably highlighting the BrahMos missiles produced in the state as a source of concern for neighboring Pakistan. Speaking at the UP International Trade Show in Greater Noida, Shah emphasized the significant investments being directed towards all six nodes of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor, which includes Jhansi, Chitrakoot, Lucknow, Agra, Aligarh, and Kanpur.

During the event, Shah spotlighted the BrahMos Integration and Testing Facility located in Lucknow and the production of AK-203 assault rifles in Amethi as prime examples of the state’s expanding defence sector. The facility in Lucknow, inaugurated in May 2025, is dedicated to the assembly, integration, and testing of the supersonic cruise missiles, with the first batch completed in October 2025. This establishment, valued at approximately ₹300 crore and spanning nearly 200 acres, aims to bolster indigenous defence production while also supporting ancillary industries and creating skilled employment opportunities.

Shah noted that the improving law-and-order situation in Uttar Pradesh, along with its growing industrial base, is playing a pivotal role in attracting further investment to the state. He praised the “One District, One Product” initiative, which focuses on the expansion of local industries to generate more employment opportunities for the youth.

The UP International Trade Show 2026, happening from September 25 to 29, serves as a platform for manufacturers, MSMEs, exporters, artisans, startups, investors, and international buyers to converge and explore opportunities in the state. This trade show is expected to further accentuate the industrial and economic capabilities of Uttar Pradesh on an international stage.
