Pralhad Joshi has stepped into his new role as India’s Education Minister, following his appointment to the position. His initial focus will be on evaluating significant educational initiatives and progressing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. At his new office in Kartavya Bhavan, New Delhi, Joshi convened with senior officials from the Departments of School Education and Higher Education to gain insight into the ministry’s current projects and objectives.

Despite being new to the education sector, Joshi expressed his intent to familiarize himself thoroughly with the ministry’s workings before making any comprehensive statements. He emphasized the importance of understanding the department’s operations to maintain the momentum of the key educational programs currently in place.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has placed his confidence in Joshi by assigning him this significant responsibility. In taking on this role, Joshi aims to ensure the continuity and success of the major educational initiatives that are already underway. His approach reflects a commitment to sustaining the progress and addressing the educational needs of the country.

The additional portfolio was entrusted to Joshi following the acceptance of former Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation by President Droupadi Murmu. This transition marks a new phase for the ministry as it continues to advance its educational policies and plans under Joshi’s leadership.
