The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust has recently accepted the resignations of its General Secretary, Champat Rai, and trustee Anil Mishra amid an investigation into alleged misappropriation of funds intended for the Ram Mandir. This development follows accusations of irregularities in the handling of donations meant for the temple’s construction. Trust treasurer Govind Giri confirmed that these resignations were in line with the trust’s constitutional guidelines and acknowledged Rai’s significant contributions since the trust’s establishment.
In the wake of these allegations, Champat Rai and Anil Mishra’s departures have stirred notable concern. Senior trust member Pankaj Jaiswal characterized the situation as both distressing and disgraceful, emphasizing that any breach involving the misuse of devotees’ donations is entirely unacceptable. As a result, the trust has appointed Krisha Mohan as the interim General Secretary, while Govind Giri will maintain his role as treasurer during this period of uncertainty.
The trust’s leadership is taking these allegations seriously, with plans to reconvene on July 22, when the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is expected to deliver its final report. Govind Giri has made it clear that the trust is committed to accountability and will not shield anyone found guilty of wrongdoing. He asserted that all individuals implicated must face legal consequences, regardless of their role within the trust.
As the investigation continues, eight individuals have already been arrested in connection with the alleged theft of donations. The trust is determined to uphold transparency and integrity throughout this process, ensuring that those responsible for any misconduct are held accountable. Meanwhile, the focus remains on maintaining the trust and confidence of the devotees who have contributed to the temple’s cause.
