Delhi is set to witness a comprehensive welfare and infrastructure initiative with the launch of the Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan on September 17, as announced by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. This month-long campaign is designed to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25-year milestone in public service and will see the unveiling of projects valued at approximately ₹13,800 crore across the city.
The Abhiyan will encompass a variety of community-focused activities, including blood donation camps, health screenings for the elderly, and sanitation drives aimed at cleaning the Yamuna River. Additionally, registration camps for various government welfare schemes will be held in each of the 70 assembly constituencies. A significant event within this campaign is the mega blood donation camp scheduled for the launch day, aiming to collect 2,500 units of blood. The campaign will also spotlight organ donation and provide health camps tailored for senior citizens.
Among the initiatives, a substantial allocation of ₹8,000 crore will be directed towards projects associated with the Yamuna River. In recognition of their contributions, over 4,000 Anganwadi and ASHA workers will receive accolades during the campaign. Moreover, the initiative will engage students and youth from approximately 5,000 schools through a series of painting and speech contests, alongside an innovation challenge that encourages ideas for a developed India.
During the campaign, several infrastructure projects are slated for launch. These include ₹8,000 crore dedicated to Delhi Jal Board initiatives, ₹2,800 crore for public works department (PWD) projects, ₹1,500 crore for advancements in the power sector, ₹365 crore aimed at irrigation and flood control, and ₹77 crore earmarked for tourism projects.
